Your data, in plain language.
How this website and the SWG bar application handle information.
This website
The website does not include advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. Your appearance preference is stored in this browser’s local storage. Language is part of the URL. Cloudflare serves the site and may process request metadata, such as IP addresses, for delivery and security.
Email registration
If you submit the form, we store your email address, selected language, signup time, and the notice version in a dedicated Cloudflare database. We use these only for SWG bar availability, pricing, and product updates. Contact support@swgbar.com to unsubscribe or request deletion. We do not send an automatic email on signup.
The macOS application
SWG bar has no central analysis service. It stores observations on your Mac, reads certificate trust information from macOS, imports hostnames from accessible Chromium browser histories, and uses packet metadata when permissions permit.
Network activity and local files
Automatic and manual probes create outbound TLS connections to discovered hosts. Selected database fields are encrypted with a local key. This does not encrypt all metadata or logs, which can contain hostnames, IP addresses, certificate subjects, and local paths. Review logs before sharing them.
Storage and upgrades
Application data is in ~/Library/Application Support/SWGBar/ and ~/Library/Logs/SWGBar/. The current app resets its database, rules, encryption key, and archived logs after detecting a newer version. Back up needed records before upgrading.
Website hosting and security
Cloudflare hosts this website and registration database. To limit automated submissions, the registration endpoint temporarily stores a hash derived from the request IP address and a short time window; it does not store the raw IP address in the registration database. These rate-limit records expire after 20 minutes and are removed during subsequent requests. Cloudflare may separately process request metadata for delivery and security.
